Project Management Philosophy
  • Start by envisioning the final product. Create specific, measurable goals and a clear vision.
  • Maintain discrete project phases (e.g. Discuss, Plan, Implement, Evaluate) initially, but be flexible as the situation changes.
  • Listen to team members and stakeholders with deep empathy.
  • Iterate and Learn!

Project Management Experience
Director of Advising, Division of Life Sciences, Rutgers University

In this role, I revised departmental learning goals and created of evidence-based assessments. This allowed us to better understand how our teaching affected our students, and ways in which we needed to improve. I also oversaw the transition to a new department website

Citizen Science Coordinator, Virginia Tech, Collaborative Science

I manage a complex research project between six faculty researchers across the U.S. This requires an effective coordination of research goals, teaching agenda, and data collection. In addition, I manage the education program and project creation tools. I use an Adaptive Management framework in program education and project creation.

PhD Candidate, Graduate Program in Ecology and Evolution, Rutgers University

I was an effective undergraduate research advisor for three student researchers, two of whom defended honors theses. I managed 37 teaching assistants in my role as Head TA. This required instruction on administrative responsibilities and pedagogical content. Finally, I was instrumental in creating and managing a project to reduce undergraduate attrition in the sciences: Portals to Academic Student Success. This program saw a 10% reduction in attrition.
